Roop Bhajan Sahib

The third guru of Pooj Samadha Ashram, Shikarpur

Satguru Roop Bhajan hai , parsid yogi raj,
Tankhi pad wandan karoon , hoye safal sab kaaj,

SatGuru 108 Baba Roop Bhajan Sahib Swami, born in 1840 in Shikarpur, Sindh, Pakistan, was one of the greatest Udaseen saints of his time. His birth came during an era rich with remarkable spiritual leaders, and Baba Roop Bhajan Sahib became one of the most revered among them. From a young age, Baba Roop Bhajan Sahib left behind worldly attachments to devote himself entirely to the spiritual path, seeking the company of saints and dedicating his life to service.

Spiritual Devotion and Succession

Baba Roop Bhajan Sahib’s journey to spiritual greatness was deeply influenced by his devotion to his Guru, SatGuru 108 Baba Ram Bhajan Sahib (the second Patshahi). His unwavering service to Baba Ram Bhajan Sahib was so profound that his Guru blessed him with his name and officially recognized him as his spiritual successor.

In 1903, following the passing of SatGuru Baba Ram Bhajan Sahib, Baba Roop Bhajan Sahib was entrusted with the responsibility of leading Samadha Ashram. This momentous occasion, witnessed by many saints and respected figures, marked the continuation of the sacred mission of guiding humanity, spreading spiritual teachings, and serving the divine. Baba Roop Bhajan Sahib’s leadership maintained the Ashram’s core values of devotion, humility, and service.

Renovating Samadha Ashram and Promoting Spiritual Healing

Baba Roop Bhajan Sahib focused not only on the spiritual well-being of the devotees but also on the physical environment of the Ashram. He renovated Samadha Ashram, giving it a more inspiring and welcoming appearance that further encouraged visitors to seek spiritual solace. His life was a perfect embodiment of devotion and simplicity, spent entirely in the remembrance of God.

One of the most significant aspects of Baba Roop Bhajan Sahib’s time at the Ashram was the blessing of the water pool near the well. Baba declared that anyone who bathed in the pool with faith would be cured of diseases and find relief from their sorrows. To this day, the sacred water is believed to possess healing powers, and people continue to visit it in the hope of experiencing physical and spiritual healing.

Baba Roop Bhajan Sahib also had a deep love for gardening. He took great care in cultivating the Ashram’s garden, all the while chanting God’s name and remaining spiritually connected to the divine. His work in the garden symbolized his belief in finding divinity in the simplest acts of life.

Spiritual Guidance

Baba Roop Bhajan Sahib guided many people by giving them the sacred Naam (God’s name) and helping them find peace and purpose. Among his close devotees, three stood out for their dedication and became Udaseens (renunciates who dedicate their lives to serving God and humanity).

Baba Narayan Bhajan Sahib

Baba Narayan Bhajan Sahib was deeply devoted to Baba Roop Bhajan Sahib, who gave him an ashram near the temple garden and encouraged him to serve people. Baba Narayan offered rout and green chutney as prasad (holy offering) to visitors.

Though Baba Narayan Bhajan Sahib was not chosen as the successor, Baba Roop Bhajan Sahib promised him that he would hold the position in his future life. After this, Baba Narayan moved to Mianwali, Punjab, where he continued to serve humanity.

Much later, on 18th November 2001, the 6th Gaddi Nasheen, Baba Shiv Bhajan Sahib, transformed the ashram into a clinic, inaugurating it under the name Baba Roop Bhajan Charitable Clinic. This clinic initially operated only on Green Sundays but gradually expanded its services to operate daily.

Today, the clinic has gained immense popularity, not only in Shikarpur but across Pakistan. Many people, disheartened after seeking treatment elsewhere, come here with faith and hope in Baba Sain. They experience miraculous recoveries, proving the divine healing power of this sacred clinic.

Baba Sharan Bhajan Sahib

Baba Sharan Bhajan Sahib was born in Shikarpur. As a child, he was drawn to Samadha Ashram and would spend his time there, helping and serving others. Recognizing his devotion, Baba Roop Bhajan Sahib gave him the responsibility of managing an ashram near Panjoram Haveli. He spent his life serving there, and his final resting place is at Samadha Ashram.

Baba Kishan Bhajan Sahib

Baba Kishan Bhajan Sahib, originally named Baba Harnamdas, was born in Sukkur. He was already a spiritual leader at Saad Bela when he met Baba Roop Bhajan Sahib. Deeply moved by his presence, Baba Kishan Bhajan Sahib joined him at Samadha Ashram.

Thirteen days before Baba Roop Bhajan Sahib left this world, he ordained Baba Kishan Bhajan Sahib as the 4th Gaddi Nasheen of Samadha Ashram. This ensured that the spiritual mission of the ashram continued without interruption.

Dear Readers,

Miracles are manifestations of God’s love and are not meant to scare or confuse people but to inspire strength, hope, and faith in an individual who has been chosen by God, based on their good deeds (karma). Miracles are shown only to those selected individuals, and only when saints, priests, and sages believe it will benefit that person. The purpose of a miracle is to deepen one’s faith in the presence of God, reminding us that He is always watching. It is a reminder that we must be careful in our actions and always strive to perform good deeds.

Karma refers to the thoughts and intentions in one’s heart and mind towards others, while Kriya refers to the actions performed with one’s hands and body. These are two distinct concepts but both play a crucial role in shaping our lives.

Saints and sages work in silence, teaching their followers to focus on their efforts without seeking attention or praise. The essence of their teachings is that whatever one wishes to achieve, one should work hard and sincerely without any show or display.

Now, let us read about the miracles Baba Roop Bhajan Sahib performed to strengthen the faith of the people.

1.

One devotee named Viroomal, deeply devoted to Baba Roop Bhajan Sahib, could not fully comprehend the miracles of his Guru. To demonstrate his love and devotion, he decided to enter Baba’s room in the Ashram. As he entered, he was horrified to see what appeared to be the scattered body parts of Baba Roop Bhajan Sahib—his head, arms, legs, and torso all separated and lying throughout the room.

Terrified and confused, Viroomal was about to flee in panic when suddenly, he heard Baba Roop Bhajan Sahib’s voice call out to him,

“Viroomal, you have come to see me, so please see me, this is how I look,” Baba said.

In that instant, all fear vanished from Viroomal’s heart, and he fell to the ground in reverence. Realizing the divine nature of his Guru’s presence, he humbly apologized for his doubts and misunderstanding, acknowledging that Baba Roop Bhajan Sahib’s form was beyond the limits of human perception.

This miraculous vision served as a profound lesson for Viroomal and all who heard this story: that a true Guru’s power transcends physical form and that devotion, faith, and understanding must be cultivated through love and surrender to the divine will.

During those days, the business community of Shikarpur generously donated to support the daily activities of Samadha Ashram. On certain occasions, devotees from the Ashram would go from shop to shop, requesting donations to sustain the ashram’s routine. The accounts of these donations were meticulously recorded in the Ashram’s books.

One day, a devotee named Pesoram went to a gold jewelry shop to ask for a donation. The gold jeweler, a man known for his greed and lack of faith in Sain Baba, responded coldly, saying,

“We are tired of these constant requests. Your demands are excessive.”

Disheartened, Pesoram returned to Samadha Ashram and shared the entire incident with Baba Roop Bhajan Sahib. Upon hearing this, Baba smiled and calmly replied,

“The gold jeweler is an intelligent man. He has awakened us today. We should only depend on God. It is God, and God alone, who is the true giver and provider of everything, not our fellow human beings. There is a saying, ‘No matter how much a dog barks, it does not affect the beggar’s earnings.’”

At that moment, SatGuru Baba Roop Bhajan Sahib made a significant declaration:

“Throw all the account books of donations and charity into the Dhuni Sahib. From now on, only God will take care of Samadha Ashram.”

And so it was. Over time, the Ashram continued to grow, flourishing not just in Shikarpur, but spreading far and wide across Pakistan, India, and one day, it is believed, the entire world. This divine grace and trust in God’s provision became a hallmark of Samadha Ashram’s continued success and impact on countless lives.

3.

One day, Sain Baba was sitting alone outside his room when a devotee, who also happened to be a thief, came running towards him, crying for help. The man pleaded with Baba to save him, as he had just committed a theft, and the police were hot on his trail. He begged Baba to hide him before the police arrived at the Ashram.

Sain Baba, with his characteristic calm and compassion, directed the thief to hide in the Peenghe Waaro Room—a room in the Ashram known for its swing. Shortly after, the police arrived and informed Baba of their search for the thief. With Baba’s permission, they thoroughly searched the entire Ashram. However, when they entered the Peenghe Waaro Room, they could not see the thief, even though he was hiding there. Perplexed, the police left the Ashram empty-handed.

Witnessing this miraculous event, the thief emerged from the room, overwhelmed with gratitude and awe. He immediately fell at Sain Baba’s feet, repenting for his wrongdoings. Baba, in his infinite wisdom and kindness, counseled him to abandon his habit of stealing and instead dedicate his life to serving the Ashram and improving himself spiritually and morally.

This incident not only transformed the life of the thief but also reinforced the unwavering faith of devotees in Sain Baba’s divine grace and his ability to guide people toward the path of righteousness.
